E.U.-India trade up by 16.7%

BRUSSELS:The two-way trade between the European Union and India in 2004 reached 32.2 billion euros with India's exports at 15.5 billion euros and E.U’s exports to India at 16.6 billion euros. Figures released by Eurostat, E.U's statistical bureau, show the total bilateral trade in 2004 showed percentage increase of 16.7 percent over the previous year. India's exports to E.U. show percentage increase of 16.5 percent over 2003: exports in textiles went up by 6.9 percent, agricultural products by 7.6 percent and metals and granites by 55.6 percent. E.U's exports to India also went up by 16.8 percent over 2003. E.U. textiles exports are the only sector, which has shown decline of 6.8 percent over 2003.
