EMC acquires Indian founded Isilon for $ 2.25 Billion
Massachusetts: EMC, an enterprise software manufacturer, has acquired Indian founded Isilon Systems for $2.25 billion. Isilon is a scalable storage solutions provider. The buyout took place in cash amount, with each share selling for approximately $33.85. Isilon's "Scale-out NAS" storage systems are very well known. These storage systems offer the customers highly scalable, low-cost storage infrastructure for managing "Big Data". Among Isilon's clients include those in life sciences, media and entertainment, and oil and gas. The new deal between the two companies will complement their storage systems. Isilon's offerings will be in tandem with EMC's storage product Atmos. With EMC holding 20 percent share in the storage market, this buyout will help EMC gain a bigger market. The combined revenue of the two storage systems is pegged to earn EMC about $1 billion in the second half of 2012. EMC has engaged in many buyouts since 2009 including companies like Greenplum, Archer Technologies, SourceLabs, FastScale Technology, Data Domain, Configuresoft and Varonis Systems under its belt.
