DuPont hires more researchers in India
Bangalore: DuPont which offers products and services for markets including agriculture, nutrition, electronics, communications, safety and protection, home and construction, transportation and apparel, is hiring more researchers for its India operations, especially the DuPont Knowledge Centre (DKC) in Hyderabad. Despite the economic downturn, DuPont India has been hiring considerably, with 400 hires in 2009. As reported by the Business Line, the company is recruiting fresh science postgraduates and engineers from colleges in and around Hyderabad. By the end of 2009, it hopes to hire at least 100 more researchers for the DKC, a global research and development center with integrated expertise in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and engineering. Launched in November 2008 with around 180 scientists, the center focuses on integrated science to develop DuPont's application pipeline for the Indian and other emerging markets. In the next six months, it will focus on bioinformatics and regulatory sciences. Graeme Longe, Director, Human Resources of DuPont, said, "The offer of multiple careers under one roof, with a possibility for researchers to shift areas along with the stimulating work environment, is a value proposition that attracts good quality." According to the company, the pool of available scientists is bigger now. Indians who have earned a doctorate abroad and are also U.S. citizens, are showing interest in DKC. More than 30 percent of the recruits so far are PhDs (post-doctorates), Longe added. He also said that there are plans to double the DKC's strength to 600 scientists by 2012. DuPont has over 5,000 scientists working at its five global R&D centres.
