Dr. Sanjay Gupta to Release TV Series on Surgeons

Bangalore: TNT has agreed to produce a pilot for "Chelsea General," which is a medical drama based on Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming novel, "Monday Mornings." Gupta will be the executive producer of this show and he will be teamed with David E. Kelley, who wrote the script for the pilot. Gupta’s Monday Mornings talks about the lives of five surgeons as they push the limits of their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings. The book uses its hospital’s weekly morbidity and mortality conference as its backdrop, when doctors gather with their peers for a confidential review of errors in patient care. The book gives a unique look at how doctors come to terms with their mistakes and try to learn from them. The book is set to be published in March 2012 by Grand Central Publishing.
Gupta is a veteran neurosurgeon at Grady Memorial Hospital in United States, also an assistant professor for neurosurgery at Emory University school of Medicine. He is also a chief medical correspondent for CNN, for giving best suggestions on health related issue. Prior to this, Gupta severed as one of fifteen White House Fellows, as a senior advisor in 1997 to 1998; later in January 2009, Gupta got an offer as a Surgeon General of the United States, under Obama administration, but he removed his name from consideration. Gupta’s Books Chasing Life and Cheating Death, related to health and science were all times bestselling in throughout the nation.
Gupta did his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his residency in neurological surgery within the University of Michigan Health System.
