Dr. Reddy's starts centre in Vietnam to help youth

MUMBAI: Pharmaceutical major Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has started a 'livelihood advancement business school (LABS)' In Hanoi, Vietnam, in partnership with Plan International, a global organization dedicated to children. This is the first LABS centre by Dr. Reddy's outside India, the pharma major said Tuesday. The programme was started with the objective of providing access to new economy jobs to unemployed youth from economically weak backgrounds. Since the inception of LABS in 2000, over 12,500 youths have been trained and employed under the programme. The programme, initially started in Hyderabad, has now been extended across India. The Foundation operates 14 LABS centres in Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi and in various towns in Andhra Pradesh. It will soon be extended to Maharashtra and Karnataka, the company said. Plan International, which has a presence in around 50 countries, is helping more than 37,000 children, their families and their communities in over 67 communes in Vietnam.
