Washington D.C.: The growing influence of Indian American community in U.S. political scenario became more evident when two Indian-American doctors belonging to the Republican Party won State Congressional elections. The two doctors are testimony to the community's runaway success in the American senate election. The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) confirmed the victory of Dr. Prasad Srini-vasan, who won the 31st district of the Connecticut State House of Representatives and Dr. Janak Joshi who secured victory in the 14th district of the Colorado State House of Representatives. Dr. Ajeet Singhvi, AAPI president said that it is an amazing occasion for AAPI as they celebrated the victory of two of their own members in statehouses in Connecticut and Colorado. He also noted that the rise of Indian Americans is continuing across all facets of life in America, including politics. Interestingly, Dr. Srinivasan will be the only physician in the Connecticut General Assembly. Dr. Joshi has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years and AAPI hopes that both the physicians will now bring a unique healthcare perspective to their respective legislative bodies.
