San Francisco: Apple sued Samsung Electronics claiming that Samsung has copied the iPhone and iPad. Filing a case in the court, the company said that Samsung has copied the look, product design, and product User Interface of Apple products. Apple is bringing 16 claims against Samsung, including unjust enrichment, trademark infringement and 10 patent claims. Samsung Galaxy use Google's Android OS , which directly competes with Apple's mobile Operating System. Galaxy also uses patents of color, rectangular shape of iPhone and iPad and also Galaxy includes the use of hand gestures on the screen. Apple is one of the phone makers and software firms who owned the patens used in smartphones. Apple claims that Samsung is infringing seven patent of Apple, that includes selecting, scrolling, pinching and zooming, and three patents on the design, including the flat black face of the iPhone and iPad. Samsung has not yet commented on this matter. Apple noted that earlier versions of Samsung smartphones did not embody the same combination of Apple's designs. The icons in earlier versions of the Samsung smart phones looked different because of the variety of shapes. But Samsung's latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging. Steve Jobs, Chief Executive Officer of Apple, which relies on Samsung to supply chips for the iPhone and iPad, called out Samsung when unveiling the iPad 2 in March, saying that the company was among the tablet makers angling to make 2011 the "Year of Copycats." Apple is looking for a court order to block further use of its patents and trademarks, along with cash compensation.
