NEW DELHI: Cosmetics major Maxcare International has launched its Diana of London range in India, promising affordable and eco-friendly products. GR Fragrances (India) has tied up with Maxcare, which is one of the fastest growing cosmetic firms in Europe and the Middle East, the company announced Monday. "The Indian cosmetics market is huge. It has been our observation that there are as many requirements for make-up as there are people using it," said Ghazi Ni Mohammed, executive director (India) of Diana of London. The products will be out in the market by next week at major chain stores like Ebony, Shoppers' Stop and Lifestyle. The company also has plans to open 45 to 50 outlets in northern India and over 400 outlets all over the country within a year. The brand, which was launched in 1992, has a turnover of more than $6.5 billion in Gulf countries alone. "Seeing the huge success of Diana of London in the Middle East we thought of launching it in India as the Indian skin tone is similar to that in Gulf countries," said Ghazi. With prices ranging from 95 to 375, Diana of London is positioned for upper middle and high end consumers. "The price tag attached to each product reads comfortable figures," said Ghazi. From gloss to matt finish, creamy to soft and firm, waterproof to heat resistant cosmetics, it's all there. All the products are eco-friendly and don't contain animal fat. "Safety is an absolute must for all Maxcare products and is high on their business priority list," Abdul Rahim, managing director of GR Fragrances (India) Pvt. Ltd. Maxcare has five major cosmetics brands which include Diana of London, England; Grosly Paris, France; Maxcare Paris, France; and Miss Claire, Germany. With a turnover of $180 billion, Maxcare now has high hopes from the Indian market.
