Despite Marketing Blitz, Discounts, Apple Is Struggling With iPhone Sales In India

According to IDC data, iPhone sales have been on a downward trend after the robust sales in response to the marketing campaign and financing schemes.

Apple has sold some 1,20,000 iPhones in India between January and March, down from 2,30,000 sales in October-December quarter last year, according to IDC. That translated into its share falling from 4.7 percent to 2.1 percent.

Apple’s South Korean rival, Samsung too came up with its own exciting offer such as 15 percent cash back for consumers buying a Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Grand, or Galaxy tablet. The offer ran in conjunction with Samsung’s prior offer that allowed customers the devices on a 12-month, interest-free installment plan. And Indian Smartphone manufactures like Micromax, Korbonn, which are among top 3 in terms of market shares, are giving tough time to prizy iPhones.
