Deloitte to up staff by 20 percent in India to 18,000 by 2012

Mumbai: Courtesy the surge in India's economy, global consulting firm Deloitte plans to increase its staff strength by 20 percent to 18,000 by 2012 in the country. "As the global attention shifts towards India , and its opportunities in the new economic environment emerge in India, Deloitte with its focus on hiring, developing, and deploying the best talent in the region, will help clients capitalise on these new market realities," Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's global Chief Executive, Jim Quigley, said. Deloitte, a part of the 'Big Four' consulting firms world-wide, will also be investing more than $500 million in emerging markets like India, China, Brazil, Russia, south-east Asia and the Middle-East, the release added. The firm's peers in the big four -- KPMG, PwC and E&Y -- also have a presence in the Indian market.
