Delhi government announces SEZ policy

New Delhi: The Delhi Government announced Wednesday that only select industries including IT enabled services will be allowed to come up in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the national capital. An official statement identified the other industries as electronic hardware and software, nano-technology, bio-technology, gems and jewellery, non-conventional energy including solar energy, handicraft, fashion and garments (without dyeing) and higher technical educational institutions providing world class manpower. "Prohibited and polluted activities shall not be allowed to be carried out in the proposed SEZ," it said. "The developers will be responsible for providing water supply and distribution system and effluent disposal system and maintenance. For this purpose, they will enter into a proper MoU with Delhi Jal Board."
