Danish footwear maker ECCO comes to India

NEW DELHI: Danish footwear maker ECCO Sko is targeting upmarket consumers in its first foray into the Indian market, the company said Thursday. It plans to launch its range of high quality leather shoes in Delhi this year and then move on to other large cities in the country, the company said. "Entering the Indian market is a significant landmark in our Asian expansion plans," ECCO managing director Michael Hauge Sorensen said in a statement. "We believe India will prove to be as good a market as the rest of Asia," he added. The company had considered the purchasing power of high-end consumers while entering the country, the statement said.
