Daksh to up headcount

BANGALORE: To keep pace with its rapidly expanding business, Daksh e-Services, a leading BPO vendor, plans to add 2,500 to 3,000 employees soon. The operator currently has around 5,000 employees spread across five centres in the country. It will also expand its offerings by foraying into the travel and hospitality segment. Pavan Vaish, senior vice-president (Strategic Initiatives), told Economic Times, a business daily in India, that the manpower addition would be spread across its various verticals —high technology, e-commerce, telecom, and financial services. Vaish said the operator had revenues of over $29 million last year and expected to grow faster than the industry this fiscal. The company, which doesn’t disclose customer names, provides services such as inbound customer service and technical support, outbound collections and telemarketing and back-office processing related services. The travel segment, especially in the United States can provide large amounts of business for Daksh, according to Vaish. The US for instance is the largest civil aviation market in the world with around 40 to 50 airlines. Daksh will provide a range of services related to ticketing, enquiry, ticket routing, frequent flier and loyalty programmes and so on. Some part of its services may also be multi lingual, with Daksh already possessing French and German capabilities. Vaish contended that despite the downturn in the airline sector, there were large opportunities to be had in the area. Vaish said Daksh is bullish on the prospects of the vertical and in the next couple of years, it expects to get at least 10% to 15% of its revenues from this segment. Daksh is expected to face competition from operators such as Interglobe, who have already been in the travel segment for a while. Incidentally, Daksh has preferred the organic growth route to enter new segments, unlike many of its peers, who have opted for the quicker M&A route. Vaish said in the case of the travel vertical for instance, the company had built expertise from the ground up, by recruiting a tram of eight to ten travel industry veterans.
