DRDO to invest 1,000 Crore in 3 key projects

Hyderabad: Defence research agency DRDO will be investing around 1,000 crore on missile manufacturing augmentation and other two key programmes at its facility here over the next five years. Investment will be made in three sanctioned programmes of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), its Director General V K Saraswat said. "Around 600 to 650 crore will be spent on missile manufacturing augmentation, 300- 350 crore will be spent on hypersonic wind tunnel programme for testing scramjet engine, which will be six times faster than sound velocity, and the remaining will be invested on radio frequency testing centre," he told reporters yesterday. The missile augmentation programme had been taken up in collaboration with another defence establishment, Bharat Dynamics, he said.
