DLF debuts on Indian benchmark index

Mumbai: Real estate developer DLF stock debuted Monday on the benchmark sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange by replacing pharmaceutical major Dr. Reddy's Laboratories's stock. The stock opened at $24 in early morning trades and closed at $23. It however posted gains of 11.30 points or 1.21 percent over Friday's close. The stock has posted a return of 76.65 percent since its listing on Oct 5 in the secondary market. DLF had entered the capital market this July with an initial public offering (IPO) of 175 million equity shares through a 100 percent book building process. Besides DLF, Power Grid Corp of India, Engineers India and MMTC have replaced Balmer Lawrie and Co and HMT Ltd on the BSE PSU index with effect from Monday.
