DATS merges with Europlex

CHENNAI:Systems integrator manufacturer DATS India Ltd and Ireland-based Europlex Technologies Ltd, have merged and renamed the merged entity iMetrex Technologies. The company said that the merged entity would make its Indian operations a hub for development and manufacturing of integrated security systems products for the world market. The combined entity, which would have a sales turnover of about Rs 100 crore by the end of fiscal, would invest 12-15 crore to set up the development and manufacturing center in new campus on the outskirts of Chennai, Rajeev Mecheri, managing director, iMetrix Technoligies, said. While the entity would be known as iMetrex Technologies, the company would continue to retain Europlex and DATS brand names for their respective products and services, he said. Currently, DATS India employs about 300 people in India while Europlex Technologies has another 35 employees in Dublin. iMetrex would ramp up its operations in India by hiring another 300 people by March, 2006, when the first phase of its 'Global Resource Centre' at in Chennai starts operations. DATS, which has a manufacturing plant in Pondicherry with a capacity of 15,000 components per hour, has started shipping the products to Europe. The Chennai facility would have double the capacity, Mecheri said adding that by 2009, he ws hopeful the company will achieve total revenues of $ 100 million.
