Ahmadabad: Currently, corporate WI-FI environments are at huge risk from information theft and cyber-terrorism attacks due to their inability to trace end users, especially the guest users. Recognizing the severity of these risks, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has recently issued a notification to Independent Service Providers (ISPs) for the secure use of WI-FI services and tracking the perpetrator in case of abuse. In order to minimize the risk, Cyberoam, a division of Elitecore Technologies, has launched a series of wireless network security appliances CR15wi, CR25wi and CR35wi which come with an in-built wireless access point featuring 802.11 n/b/g standards, MIMO technology and support for up to eight virtual access points. As a key business benefit, Cyberoam's wireless security appliances reduce the overall cost in managing Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) environments for Small- Medium Business SMBs up to 50 users which involve WI-FI routers and firewalls. According to the VP-Product Management, and Cyberoam, Abhilash Sonwane, Organizations are usually comfortable securing their wired networks; however, they can be oblivious to the threats posed by wireless networks. For instance, as when providing Internet access to guest users, a common pre-shared key is used for authentication, a technique which lacks identity-based controls. The appliances deliver the entire battery of UTM security features over WLAN for protecting home offices, remote offices as well as public Internet access outlets. The new series will not only benefit customers from theft but also ensures faster streaming of video and high bandwidth downloads at the same price. "Through the Wi-Fi security appliance range, we provide our customers a similar range of features and breakthrough performances as is currently achieved with our 'accelerator' series of UTM appliances. CR35wi accomplishes firewall through puts up to 750 M bps and UTM through puts up to 90 M bps which is a very valuable proposition for small businesses looking for a powerful UTM solution, coupled with the fact that they are also getting Wi-Fi security at the same price,"added Sonwane. Furthermore, "Among other benefits of Cyberoam's wireless security appliance solutions, the usage of MIMO and 802.11n technology improves throughput and range values; thus, enabling faster handling of video streaming and high bandwidth downloads", said, Sonwane.
