Craig Barrett to visit India in November

Mumbai: Craig R. Barrett, Chairman of the United Nations' Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Chairman of the Board, Intel Corporation will visit India from November 2 to 3, 2006. This is his eighth visit to India which is a part of an Asia Pacific tour with the Intel World Ahead program. The primary charter of Barrett's visit is to drive the World Ahead Program with communities, government and academia. This program aims to enhance lives by accelerating access to uncompromised technology with focus on accessibility, connectivity and education. During his trip he will visit New Delhi and a tier 4 town to see how technology is making a meaningful difference to people's lives. Barrett's public engagements will include an address at a roundtable for the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development in New Delhi and meetings with government officials. He will also be addressing a Digital Leaders Forum hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi. Speaking on Dr. Barrett's trip to India, Ramamurthy Sivakumar, Country Manager, Intel South Asia said, "As chairman for UN's Global Alliance for ICT and Development, Dr. Barrett has been actively advocating pedagogic transformation around the world and the value that technology can provide in raising social and economic standards globally.
