FARMINGTON HILLS, MI: Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a consulting and technology services company, today announced they have formed a strategic partnership with PCC Technology Group (PCC), a provider of elections management solutions. PCC, which provides election software solutions to state, local and federal governments, will work with Covansys to help states comply with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). Signed into law on October 16, 2002, the HAVA dedicated $3.9 billion to helping state and local governments enhance their voting technology. The law mandates that each state implement a centralized Voter Registration system by January 1, 2004 to help reduce voter fraud. Currently, 40 out of 50 states have yet to comply. ElectioNet, PCC's proprietary Centralized Voter Registration and Election Management System, is a web-based system with multiple security levels designed to decrease voter fraud by eliminating duplicate entry. It allows counties to view statewide lists in real-time and easily transfer data. "With the HAVA mandate less than a year away, we realized that our public sector clients needed an IT solution to help them meet the HAVA requirements. PCC's suite of products will allow Covansys to offer our public sector clients a turn-key solution that will allow state governments to create better election systems for their citizens," said Arvind Malhotra, senior vice president of Covansys' Public Sector practice. Covansys is currently deriving over 43 percent of its annual revenues from state and local government customers and healthcare clients. "We look forward to leveraging Covansys' public sector market leadership and extensive implementation expertise to provide public sector customers with a unique solution to meet the federal mandate," said Joe Singh, chief technology officer, PCC.
