New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Thursday asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for its response to a petition challenging the government's policy on spectrum allocation, including the first-come-first-served policy. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Sanjeev Khanna expressed objections over the recent allocation of spectrum to non-telecom companies. "We have read that the companies (non-telecom) were sold for thousands of billions after they were allocated the spectrum by the government," the court said and slated the next hearing for April 1. The court made the observation while hearing two public interest petitions challenging the government policy for allocating the spectrum in 1996, including the recent first-come-first-served procedure.
