Costliest Domain Names of 2011
Bangalore: Domain names are very important to the success of the website. It should be attractive to catch the browsers to log into the website. Website owners are eager to buy an attractive domain name which is related to the content. As we all know domain names are very cheap as you can register it within $10. But if you want to buy an attractive, valuable domain name, you have to spend millions to get.
In 2010 the domain name sex.com sold for $13 million and it has created a history of most expensive domain name. This year the sale of domain name has not reached as huge as in the previous year. Here are the most expensive domain names of 2011.
Social.com
Social.com the domain name has sold via Moniker/NameQuiver at $2.6 million on 7th July 2011by an individual owner Scoot Carter, but the buyers name has not disclosed. It was first registered in January 1995. Scoot Carter tried to sell the domain name in 1997 for $50,000 but there were no buyer. He also tried using the site to promote business and social networking. The social.com page is currently showing the message “server not found.”
DomainName.com
DomainName.com has been sold for $1 million, via Boxcar/DomainConsultant on 18th May, 2011. It was registered in 23rd July 1997.
