Kochi: Prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other petroleum products would go down shortly, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora said here Monday. Speaking at a function to honour Hybee Eden, the newly elected president of the National Students Union, the students wing of the Congress party, at KOchi, Deora said the central government was seriously considering further cut in the prices of petroleum products. He added that the government was now assessing the losses suffered by the public sector oil companies. "we are now assessing the losses incurred by them (public sector oil firms). Once we ascertain the loss, we will fix the new prices of these products," said Deora. When the government recently slashed prices, LPG was left untouched. "In the next revision that will take place shortly, price of LPG also would be reduced. I assure you that in future when the oil prices go up, we will not increase the price of kerosene," said Deora.
