Convergys to start another centre in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Convergys Corp has announced the launch of another call centre facility near Mumbai and hiking its staff in India by 4,000. Senior officials of the company said the call centre in India's financial capital should be ready by June. This would take the firm's staff strength to 14,000. The Cincinnati based company is also opening a new facility in Hyderabad on Wednesday. "The Hyderabad office currently employs 600 people. We intend to double that number over the next 12 months," said Vinay Mehta, managing director of the company's information management division. "The Hyderabad centre is the third largest location in terms of employees and we will develop that into a centre for excellence," said Larry S. Schwartz, the executive vice president for global operations at Convergys. The business process outsourcing company currently has its India offices in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Thane. The company is exploring more cities for its operations, including Chandigarh.
