New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Thursday slapped a fine of 1.75 million (17.5 lakh) on a construction company for misleading the court by making wrong statements against Delhi Jal Board in a tender allotment case. A division Bench of Justices Madan B. Lokur and Justice Sidharth Mridul dismissed a petition filed by Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd (NCCL) seeking cancellation of Delhi Jal Board tenders issued last year. The tender was for construction of raw water pumping stations. Alleging that the Jal Board had illegally awarded the contract to M/s D.S. Constructions and M/s Pratibha Industries Ltd, Nagarjuna said the technical committee accepted the price bid of the two bidders arbitrarily. The court said it contained a number of erroneous statements and assertions that are contrary to the facts and the petition was liable to be dismissed. The court said the petition was devoid of merit and dismissed it, imposing fine on the petitioner.
