Congress spends Rs.380 Crore to win '09 Lok Sabha election
New Delhi: Eveyone is aware of the fact that Congress party has outrun every competitor to the winner's post in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, but vet few people knows that the same party has also outstripped all other parties in the spending stakes.

Sonia Gandhi led Congress party invested 380 crore, a three-fold jump from 2004, for the elections that returned the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to power. Its rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is among at least 19 political parties with representatives in the Lok Sabha to have not yet filed their expenditure statements with the election commission (EC).

Talking to DNA, SK Mendiratta, Legal Counsel, Election Commission of India said, "The EC has issued the parties - warning letters and given them a last chance to file their expenditure statements." It was mandatory for all the political parties to file the details of expenses incurred by them within three months of the general elections, according to a timeline set by the EC. Al these details are found after DNA filed an RTI application to know the amount of money spent in election by all the parties.

16: Congress filed their expenditure statements with the election commission (EC), the amount came to Rs.380 crore. But I think this might not be the correct amount at all. The correct expenditure might be more than that.
It looks like Politics is a business, where you bid for power, and once you are in power (get elected), you earn back the invested amount and more(by hook or crook).
One thing I definitely believe is, if India were to become developed country, it would not be with the help of these politicians ruling our country at all. It would rather be - apart from these pests(politicos) infesting our country, we could develop.(on our own)

20: Congress is more concerned about taking forward the nation towards a brighter future, a good initiative when compared to the bomb blasts and communial riots BJP triggered during its regime. I do not belong to any political party but i still have my perspective good about congress. see, cong govt ruled over india since last 50 years and framed all fiscal policies to fool the public. see the statistics,
India is a agricultural country...ok... 1947-1991 GDP contribution through Agro bus is 70-80% rest is through mfg, education and export...
Now (1991-2009) the same is dropped to mere 55-57%... while education sector has shown heavy growth through IT...
But what we have in our hands is very much shockkking...
To farmers who may or may not give desired output due to current natural problems, cong. govt. policies are allowing loans at mere 4-6% rate of int. and on the other hand, where the higher education is concerned, the government policies demand heavy rate of interest as equals to 16-18%pa.
also consider the probability of repayment of loans from farmers is more or equals to ZERO...
like wise there are n no. of scams' during the ruling of congg govt and not the other....
This thought must be considered..

56: Pity our nation guys ...... the prevailing iron age or kaliyuga as it is called has gone down to the levels of gross materialism, these are same people who are talking about austerity.

Krsna says in Gita that when a king deviates from his rightful duty, the reaction (karma) is equally shared among the population of that country.

Similarly when population deviates from its rightful duty, then 1/10th of the reaction (karma) will be honored on the king.

There is no country in this world now that is following this principle. If at all today's politicians know what it takes to become a king, then nobody would come to you to ask for your votes, they would simply say vote for him, not me.

Today, the king is deviated, so is the population. The action and reaction is shared among the population and king continuously. That is why we see so many Adhidhaivik problems like natural disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes, etc.

We can stop this action and reaction of karma amongst us. We need to change ourselves and our homes first by purifying our hearts of corruption, take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

If we have to change this iron age into golden age, then a king or a local politician should start thinking that he is the servant of the servant of all the population.

Leading a country or the domain of one's power never meant to be boss over. It was meant to set example.

Where we started and where we are now without any idea as to where to go.

We need to take India to the spiritual level of existence rather than adopting western culture. We falsely take pride of being a single largest democratic country where not a single citizen is happy about it. The real king's of those ages like Bharatha, Rama, Yudhistira, Parikshit, etc. ruled the entire planet single handedly.

Very nicely said. I agree with you completely.

Subjects are more important than the Lord Himself, that is the level of humility that Krsna displayed when He was here 5125 years ago. While others are trying to know Him with all means possible, He submits Himself to His devotees and then says to subjects that serve my devotees first and then come to Me. Real humility starts at the subject level.

There were demons who were killed by Krsna playfully and Krsna who was Himself frightened by Yashoda mayya's stick, so there are many devotees who played their roles with Krsna in His pastime here.

We can achieve Him only by pure devotional service and not even only devotion. Srila Prabhupada specifically said Devotional SERVICE.

The serving attitude is there within us always because we keep serving someone or other directly or indirectly. Add knowledge to this serving attitude then the sprout of love develops towards Krsna, until then we will see him just as a mere notorious person who was here 5125 years ago.

We have a desire to see if there are any human race or living entities in this universe and try to launch satellites for the purpose, resulting in huge taxes on public. But with the truth of absolute if we read scriptures, which will not even cost a single rupee we will come to know Krsna is controlling billions and billions of universes just like that, they never crashed amongst each other anytime, everything is perfect.

Human intelligence is very miniscule. With this imperfect senses, we are trying to question the lordship of the Lord. We think it is because of we that God has been given a name.

Leave behind your material eyes and see through spiritual eyes. See through the reality and question about your own existence here. Who are you ? What is your role ? What have you come here for ? Where will I go back or will I come back here again ? If yes, why ?
