Bangalore: Imparting computer education in government schools is simplified, thanks to Magikeys a product of FTK Technologies, a desktop software company and Educomp Solutions, an education service provider. Developed by using the custom-made software LooKeys, the application will enable students to learn computer applications in their own mother tongue. This vernacular interface is specifically designed to meet the needs of government schools in India. "We took into consideration the fact that most government schools aspire to introduce their students to the world of computers, but face obstacles due to language barrier and the familiarity and preference of the students with their mother tongue" said Rafi Palgi, Executive Manager at FTK. The product is currently being used in many government schools across the country. Magikeys also has a fully functional offline interface that would enable teachers and students to use MS Office and other Unicode compliant applications in their own languages. In schools that have internet connectivity students can write mails, chat and surf the net in their own language using MagiKeys.
