Computer Sciences in outsourcing pact with Providian

SAN FRANCISCO: Computer Sciences Corp. signed a wide-ranging information technology outsourcing contract with Providian Financial Corp., a credit card provider.
Financial terms and length of the agreement weren't immediately available.
In a joint press release Monday, the companies said Computer Sciences will assume responsibility for Providian's desktop, help desk, server, security administration, e-mail, and voice and data network infrastructure functions.
Computer Sciences will support Providian at the company's primary locations in California, Texas, Kentucky and New Hampshire.
The companies said about 150 Providian employees will move to Computer Sciences beginning Nov. 1.
