Mumbai: Coca- Cola India has shifted from its sparkling drinks segment to non-carbonated drinks which are highly convincing for the growth of the company although brands like Coca-cola, Thums up, Limca, Fanta and water business Kinley make up for most of the business in India. Thus, Coca Cola India announced the launch of the awaited ready to drink iced tea brand which will be made available in the market next year. Nestea is an attempt of Coca- Cola India to expand its non-carbonated health drinks market. According to Ricardo Fort, Vice President, marketing, Coca Cola India quoted that " India currently figures in the top ten businesses for the company and will be among the top 5 in the coming years. He opines that a shift from sparkling drinks to non- carbonated drinks will be welcomed by the people and the growth chart in the ratio of sales contribution and the business contribution from India to global sales will show an immense change on a positive note. While observing the recent statistics it is notable that Pepsico is not lagging behind anywhere in the race when it comes to offering non-carbonated drinks and health drinks. On one hand where Coca Cola has launched energy drink Burn, Minute Maid nimby fresh, Minute Made Apple and Mixed Fruit Juices and milk based Mango drink Maaza Milky Delite in the last one year, on the other hand Pepsico formed a joint venture with Tata Global Beverages to capture Indian market for non- carbonated drinks. Coca Cola is initially making Nestea available for 25 for 400ml stock-keeping unit at 8000 outlets in Mumbai. It is being manufactured at subsidiary Hindustan Coca Cola's bottling plant at Atmakuru in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Again being in the race a tea and fruit based energy drink is being test- marketed by Tata Global Beverages in Southern India.
