CityVille takes over FarmVille in popularity on Facebook
Bangalore: The latest game from the Facebook game-developer Zynga, 'CityVille' has become the most popular application on Facebook, surpassing Zynga's previous social gaming phenom, 'FarmVille'. CityVille has touched 16.8 million daily active users, compared to FarmVille's 16.4 million, reports Stan Schroeder from CNN. According to social gaming metric provider AppData, CityVille is also ahead with 61.7 million users, while FarmVille trails behind with 56.8 million users. Two other games from Zynga, 'FrontierVille' and 'Texas HoldEm Poker' could also make it to the top five which gives Zynga a total of 261 million monthly active users. 'Phrases' is the only non-Zynga app in the top five list which stays at the third position. As with all other Zynga games, CityVille is also free-to-play and it is very social. Users can build stores and operate franchises in their friends' towns. However, users can spend real money on virtual goods to enhance gameplay. Zynga, which definitely has a lead in the social gaming market, has over four times the number of users than the second-most popular developer Takeoff Monkey, reveals the AppData chart for developers. It also reveals that the user base of Zynga is more than that of the next six developers combined.
