Cisco India to double its headcount

Jaipur: Understanding the shortage of network engineers in the country, IT networking company Cisco Systems (India) plans to hire around 5000 people to take the headcount to 10,000.

Talking to Economic Times, Cisco Systems South Asia Regional Manager for Corporate Responsibility Lokesh Mehra said, "At present we have around 5000 professionals including R&D, sales and business support staff. Also, a lot of initiatives are being taken in the field of cyber crime, egovernance, defence and BFSI sectors. The country needs skilled manpower to carry out these initiatives. We feel that the demand and supply gap can widen further posing serious concerns for the growth."

2: I agree that this is a good sign, but in the past also companies have told that they will hire huge number but did not do that. I will believe this when there is any hiring actually done.

4:I believe that's not true... Companies they just announce something in order to get positive publicity. If they really need talent, they would never fire someone with the name of recession, eventhough company is not doing bad economically and hire someone else later.
