Choosing job only for money? Give a 2nd thought
Bangalore: Today, employees are highly career conscious, especially younger generation. They don't mind changing jobs too often if it helps them earn more and grow faster. They are ready to shift their loyalties for an extra buck, an additional bonus or any other monetary consideration. But an IIMB alumnus has got a different concept to it. During IIMB alumni meet he said, "In 1971, I had two interviews on the same day and one was in IBM and the other was in Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC). Even though the salary in VSSC was just one fourth of the other firm I still decided to be here and that decision made me what I am today." He is none other than new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) K.Radakrishnan. A recent survey revealed that 24 percent of the graduates from premier B-schools quit their first jobs within 12 months of being hired. The eye-popping fat salaries appear to be one of the main reasons for their resignations. Young generation believes that Job hopping also acts as a shortcut to success. But the most affected area is loyalty with the organization and the trend of hopping jobs is more prevalent in IT- ITeS sectors.
