REDWOOD CITY: Informatica Corporation, a provider of data integration and business intelligence software, has announced that Choice Hotels Scandinavia ASA, a franchisee and operator of 138 hotels in the Nordic countries, selected the Informatica PowerAnalyzer business intelligence (BI) platform as its enterprise standard. With PowerAnalyzer, hotel managers and salespeople at Choice Hotels will be able to more effectively analyze large volumes of operational information from across multiple hotel chains to further improve their sales and marketing efforts. "With PowerAnalyzer, we are looking to help our sales force and individual hotels operate more effectively by improving their access to customer information and business performance metrics across our multiple hotel chains," said Frank Olsen, IT project manager at Choice. "PowerAnalyzer can provide us with significantly more valuable functionality at a lower total cost of ownership than our previous BI vendor, Business Objects, including the ability to distribute a large number of reports to many users through a single-server, end-to-end BI solution." Choice is already successfully using the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform to consolidate information from a wide variety of disparate hotel-management systems across their 138 locations. With PowerAnalyzer, Choice can better provide all of its hotel managers and salespeople with access to operational analysis across the entire chain of properties -- helping them to track hotel performance, room capacity patterns and customer volume. With this actionable insight, Choice will be able to identify their best customers and provide them with better, more targeted promotions and service. "In today's competitive market, companies in the hospitality industry are continuing to look for new ways to improve customer service and increase their differentiation," said Sanjay Poonen, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Informatica. "We are pleased to work with yet another global industry leader to help them establish a competitive advantage through improved service, sales and marketing. In replacing their old BI tool with PowerAnalyzer, Choice will truly be able to deploy BI broadly across their organization through our easy-to-use, thin client interface." bWise, a Norwegian distributor of Informatica software, is working with Choice to replace their existing business intelligence solution with PowerAnalyzer. bWise provides data integration, data warehouse and business intelligence software and solutions to customers including Diners Club, Statens Innkrevningssentral, Telenor Mobil, NorgesGruppen and Oslo Bors.
