China lead India toward IPv6

BANGALORE: The IT sector will be seeing more growth in its markets as India is all set to get its native Ipv6 network. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is an upgraded version of the existing Internet Protocol version 4. Based on the lines of China’s Next Generation Internet project, the IPv6 is aimed at expanding the number of available Internet addresses and improves routing and network configuration. Under the aegis of the China IPv6 council that launched the Next Generation Internet (CNGI), which is one of the world’s largest native Ipv6 production networks, IPv6 Forum India has taken the step to forward this process by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU). While the Indian and Chinese IPv6 Forums will conduct joint researches and trial that will address existing policies and shares experiences for inter-operability testing, the MoU will be crucial in enabling knowledge sharing and deployment of Ipv6 in both countries. Terming that China and India shared similar features in terms of size of population, rapidly growing economy and speedy mobile and Internet subscribers, Jayachandra K, President, IPv6 Forum India said, “The co-operation is crucial in enabling knowledge sharing and working together for increased deployment of IPv6.” Ensuring better security, video-on-demand services and other new features, the network will be laid at a cost of $176 million.
