Chhattisgarh power firm rapped for delayed projects

Raipur: State-run Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) failed to complete four projects in the state in time, resulting in generation losses of 1,245.19 crore, a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said. "The four power projects of the company could not be completed in time and there was delays ranging from eight to 36 months," Purna Chandra Majhi, accountant general (audit), Chhattisgarh, said while releasing the report. The report for the year ended March 31, 2010, said there were deficiencies in project planning and formulation as well. It added that the erstwhile Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board had taken up a 1320 MW Bhaiyathan Thermal Power Project in the state's extreme northern region in Surguja district without obtaining forest clearance from the ministry of environment and forests.
