Check Point launches Endpoint Security R72 in India

Bangalore: Check Point Software Technologies, a provider of internet security firewalls, has launched Endpoint Security R72 in India. R72 comes with the additional advantages and features present in its predecessor, R71. The browser security firewall will ensure protection against all the threats which occur from web browsing like malware and root kits, phishing, backdoors and key loggers and others.
Though the software includes all the features that are present in the R71, it comes with additional features like WebCheck browser security, which protects the users from the malwares that automatically get downloaded and phishing attempts which happen while browsing the internet. The WebCheck provides a dual browser mode which prevents these threats entering a computer, and every time the user closes the browser, the virtual browser goes off.
The Endpoint Security R72 adds OneCheck authentication for the VPN connections, which ensure proper connectivity to the internet. This feature removes the tackles the issue of drop in connection, ensuring seamless connectivity in both, wireless and wired connections. This feature also unlocks all endpoint security subsystems, including Windows login, Virtual Private Network (VPN) passwords and disk encryption.
R72 pops up an alert to the users whenever they are browsing sites that can transfer malwares and other web threats. It also has language options such as English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. It is compatible with all the operating systems of Windows including recently launched Windows 7, Linux and MAC operating systems.
The other features of Endpoint Security R72 include remote access VPN, antivirus, anti-spyware, media encryption and port protection, Network Access Control (NAC) for the enterprises and centralized management.
"Check Point's WebCheck is taking endpoint security to a higher level by adding this feature of security which prevents corporate data loss or theft at browser level and protects their organization from costs such as security breaches and streamlines the infrastructure," said Bhaskar Bakhtavatsalu, Regional Director, India and SAARC, Check Point Software Technologies.
"There is the need for encryption for data in day to day functioning, as the breaching activities cause heavy losses to the companies and the individuals in forms of personal and professional. This includes people like celebrities and politicians also, and the trend has changed, people do not steal laptops for money, they steal the information and sell it. So, encrypted software stands very helpful in these conditions," said Bakhtavatsalu.
According to the Dell and Ponemon Institute report in 2008, about 53 percent of the professionals keep some kind of personal information in their laptops, 63 percent of them do not protect it, and there are around 12,000 laptops are stolen every week at U.S. airports. Also, there are around 61 percent of data breaches due to the lack of policy enforcement.
