Chandramouli named next provident fund commissioner

New Delhi: K. Chandramouli, a 1975 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) with Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been named the next central Provident Fund Commissioner, it was announced Wednesday. He will enjoy the rank and pay of a secretary in the government of India and takes over the reins from A. Viswanathan, who superannuates Dec 31. The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minster Manmohan Singh, has cleared the name of the new commissioner, said a communique from the Employees Provident Fund Organization. A postgraduate in chemistry, Chandramouli had previously worked with the labour ministry in the national capital between 2001 and 2006. He had also served the ministries of personnel and health and family welfare in the central government.
