Bangalore: A Green IT certificate has been launched to help companies understand how to reduce their carbon IT footprint using new technologies such as solid-state drives and renewable energy sources. The certificate, launched by global IT association CompTIA in association with the BCS, will pass on information regarding techniques and technologies that will enhance an organization's green IT credentials, reports Nicola Brittain of BusinessGreen. Companies participating in this initiative will also learn how to develop and implement an internal IT strategy, understand standards and assessment tools and ensure the programme delivers a good return on investment. The certificate complements the Foundation Certificate in Green IT recently launched by the BCS. The examination is available through Prometric's testing systems. Study for CompTIA and BCS Green IT exams can be done through accredited training providers across the country, or through independent study using training materials. Information about course materials, training providers and where to take the exams is available through the CompTIA and BCS websites.
