Mumbai: Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific will almost double its flights to 23 from 12 between Hong Kong and New Delhi and Mumbai from Feb 29, and add Chennai as a new destination on its Indian operations from June 1. According to Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler, the airline would by early June operate 23 flights on the Indian sector. At present, it operates 12, distributed between Mumbai and New Delhi. "We are very excited about being able to boost our services to India. With our base home in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific is ideally positioned to act as the natural choice of passengers travelling to and from one of the world's fastest growing markets, India. The opportunities for Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub are very clear," Tyler said Wednesday. From next month, Cathay Pacific will fly daily to New Delhi and Mumbai with the addition of three new flights per week. The Mumbai flights will extend to cover Dubai, a mere two-and-half hours of additional flying. With the onset of summer schedule from March-end, the airline will add three more flights a week to Mumbai and one daily service to New Delhi. This will make a total of 14 flights a week to the Indian capital, Tyler said. From June 1, Chennai will be the new destination added on Cathay Pacific's network with four flights a week.
