Carrier Refrigeration bags $23 mn export order

NEW DELHI: Carrier Refrigeration, a subsidiary of air-conditioning major Carrier India, has bagged a $23 million export order to supply bottle coolers and glass door merchandisers to the US. The order is double the last one bagged by the company from the US, "signalling that products produced here are accepted in the global market and India is emerging as a major supply source for Carrier globally," a company spokesperson said Monday. The export order from a key global customer in the beverage and commercial refrigeration market in the US will be met by Carrier's plant in Bangalore, with supplies spread over two years. "The company has successfully completed the initial phase of this order and regular supplies have commenced from our Bangalore facility," Carrier India chairman and managing director Neville Moos said in a statement. A subsidiary of global air-conditioning and refrigeration systems major Carrier Corporation, which is part of New York listed company United Technologies Corporation, the Indian subsidiary recorded 15 percent growth in volumes for 2003. During the first quarter of 2004, the company has recorded a further 25 percent growth in sales, the company statement said.
