Captivate 5 even focuses on the non flash developers
Bangalore: The whole area of computer-based training and assessment is booming and Adobe's eLearning Suite 2 is designed to provide the definitive all-round solution. Adobe Captivate 5, which through its Flash-based output enables online delivery of interactive training materials. It is designed especially for the Mac users and took 18 months due to its complexities like simplifying flash. Now a non Flash programmer also can use Captivate. The usability and marketability of the product was a big question due to its uniqueness. Currently 65 percent of the U.S. e -learning portals uses Captivate. Shameer Ayyappan, Senior Product Manager at Adobe said, "With the new optimized interface of Adobe Captivate 5, the time required to create software simulations is significantly reduced compared to earlier versions. Multiple document interface and improved workflow for inserting multiple quiz slides are some of the major contributors for users saving time." Adobe has given the Captivate 5 interface a complete overhaul to bring its working environment into line with other Suite members. With other advances such as support for master pages, object styles and animation effects, Captivate 5 has also become a stronger design platform on which to build. The other members of the eLearning Suite are all impressive applications in their own right. However, within the Suite, their success is determined by what they can contribute to Captivate 5 and the eLearning workflow. "Previously Captivate felt strangely semi-detached, but now, it has grown into a fully fledged catalogue. Usability and intractability is one of the main reason," added Shameer. Moving beyond bitmaps and audio, Captivate 5 can now automatically convert video in a range of popular formats (AVI, MOV, MP4) to F4V. The eLearning Suite 2 greatly extends the range of formats supported thanks to the inclusion of the dedicated Media Encoder CS5. Suite users can also now roundtrip imported SWF-based Flash animations, interactive buttons and games that they've previously created with Flash Professional CS5. The other members of the eLearning Suite are all impressive applications in their own right. However, within the Suite, their success is determined by what they can contribute to Captivate 5 and the eLearning workflow. "The company would target India with all its five business units: business productivity, creative solutions, mobile and device solutions, platform and print publishing. The entire business is managed from India. Indian market is question as of now due to the less number of people who use Mac. I believe Captivate 5 will be successful in the Indian market since we still has positions like a graphic designer, content developer and other users of flash. At present adobe is planning to give training course for providers to expand the Indian market," added Shameer.
