Capgemini to increase headcount by 2007

MUMBAI: In order to tap the booming growth in the IT and BPO sector, Capgemini is going to triple its India headcount to 10,000 in the next two year and open more centers to strengthen its base in India. Announcing this company’s People Relationship Management Head, S Chandrashekhar said, “We will increase out employee strength to 10,000 from the present 3,200 and invest heavily to tap the talent in the country.” The company has the workforce of 62,000 people worldwide across 30 countries. Capgemini, which implements enterprise resource planning (ERP) softwares, especially SAP applications and perform offshore BPO operations, plans to have two more center in India by the end of the first quarter of the next financial year. “By the first quarter of the next financial year, we will have one more center in Mumbai which will accommodate 1,100 people. The second center will be on Kolkota, which will initially employ 250 people,” Chaandrashekhar added.
