Canon unveils 20 new cameras and DV camcorder

Mumbai: As part of expanding their product line, Imaging Communication Product Division of Canon India has launched a new range of 20 next generation digital cameras and DV camcorders. Canon has also announced its plan to invest 55 crore in the marketing of the camera business in this fiscal year. The launch includes five cameras in the PowerShot range, three in the IXUS range, six high definition and two standard definition camcorders, EOD 550 D digital SLR having three high quality lens versions and two Pro DV's. "We are offering our customers an expanded portfolio of cutting edge technology of advanced, stylish, sleek and professional cameras and camcorders," said Kensaku Konishi, President and CEO, Canon India. "Smart flash exposure and smart shutters are new additions to smart auto technology. Household penetration of cameras is low but growing in Indian homes. Our DSLR business has grown to become 10 percent of total camera business," said Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India. The Japan based firm is planning to set up eight exclusive pro-zones in India and 80 workshops that focus on wedding photography during 2010. The pro-zones will have the entire range of consumer, prosumer and professional cameras on display. Four Pro-zones will be set up in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad in the next 3 months.
