Can Feast, Flavours And Films Go Hand In Hand?
Released in 1987, Babette's Feast is a Danish movie about a French woman in Denmark who is taken in by a cleric. The movie won an Academy Award in the Best Foreign film Category. The story revolves around the withdrawn world that the French woman lives in where material satisfaction is prohibited, but when she wins a raffle she splurges all the money she won on a banquet in remembrance of the man who took her in during her time of need. The preparations for the dinner is prolific and the story - heartwarming. A fine movie and no list of food films would be absolute without it.
