Cambridge: The University of Cambridge has no plans to set up a campus in India even though a new legislation currently moving through Indian parliament will enable foreign universities to open campuses to meet growing demand for higher education in India. The Foreign Educational Institution (Regulation of Entry and Operation) Bill, 2010, is expected to raise the quality and quantity of higher education to meet India's growing demands for skilled manpower. The Left parties are among those opposed to allowing foreign universities in India's education sector. However, knowledge powerhouses such as Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial College, London, have no plans to set up campuses in India, though they are keen to enhance and enrich their research and institutional links with Indian universities and research institutions.
