Hyderabad: After TSC’s announcement of hiring science graduates for the IT sector and HP’s more recent announcement of an in house training center for engineers, it is the turn for Vital Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a net centric and e-governance solutions provider, to head into the bandwagon. The company announced a joint venture between Hyderabad Chapter of Computer Society of India (CSI), an IT professional’s society in India joined hands with Vital Score Consulting, a training division of Vital Technologies to design and develop an Innovative Software Training program "Exploratory Learning thru Projects (ELTP)". According to a report from the company, of all the two million graduates churned out every year, five lakh are in engineering. There are over 1,000 engineering colleges, another 1,000 colleges offering master’s degrees in computer applications, about 300 universities and 12,000 under-graduate colleges. And these are in addition to the Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institutes of Management. Though India produces large number of students, very few possess the most required skills to be regarded as valuable resource. As a result most of such BE, B.Tech and MCA students are unable to procure right placement. The idea behind the training program is aimed at bridging the gap between the industry and the academia. It would target the final year students of BE/B.Tech and MCA, ideally for those students who desire to take up a software project as a part of the curriculum. While the course design, delivery and monitoring are done by Vital Score Consulting; CSI-Hyderabad Chapter is responsible for Quality, Audit and Certification of ELTP. The duration of the course is three months with 148 hours of interactive sessions and 120 hours of lab scheduled as per the project curriculum of the aspirants. Vital has piloted ELTP for 120 candidates on an experimentation basis. And most of them are now employed with companies like Infosys, Satyam, Kane, ADP, and Polaris.
