BANGALORE: CMS computers is examining the possibility of spinning off some of its divisions into separate entities, reports Economic Times.
Independent status will help the divisions to grow at a faster pace and utilize their strengths better, said Ramesh Grover, managing director, CMS Computers.
Grover told ET that a time-frame for the spin-off has not been decided. Most division within CMS were formed as they developed specific niche solutions for customers, he said.
Divisions providing card-based solutions, system integration and printing are likely candidates for becoming independent.
The 26-year-old CMS has several group companies like CMS Traffic, CMS Securities, Kaycee and CMS Institute, which were divisions before becoming separate entities.
Grover said that one-stop solutions, nationwide presence and the ability to offer appropriate solutions are the strengths of CMS.
CMS, with revenues of Rs 400 crore-plus, expects to augment its income through its independent entities. The company offers many home grown solutions that specifically address customers issues. Examples are its Time Office System Software, which offers a comprehensive time office application.
Grover said that its solution focus is helping the company withstand competition from MNC vendors and widen its base of customers.
