NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will set up a global communication system enabling it to transmit details on fugitives to other countries quickly. CBI director P.C. Sharma said the system could send photos, fingerprints and other data online to all 181 Interpol member countries. "These details could be send through a Virtual Private Network (VPN)," he said Friday during a conference of Interpol officers of the states and union territories at the CBI Academy in Ghaziabad. Sharma contended that criminals have benefited by globalisation, creating problems for the police and law enforcement agencies. "Criminals are now moving at a faster pace making it imperative for the law enforcement agencies to equip themselves with the fastest and most reliable means of communications and technology," he added.
