NEW DELHI: Software major Computer Associates would hire several hundred more people over the next year to work on the core product of systems management in India, a senior company executive said on Monday. "Over the next one year we will hire several hundred more people in India to work on core products and design works", Ajit Maira, divisional senior vice president, Computer Associates told newspersons on the sidelines of the CII-WEF organised India Economic Summit here. The company has at present close to 1,000 people in India working in centres at Hyderabad, Noida, Kolkata and Mumbai while in Asia Pacific, it has development centres in Australia and China. The Indian development centres strength are larger than larger than China, he said. He, however, declined to specify the number of people to be taken for the core product development. Maira said CA does not have job movement policy of replacing jobs in one country to other so the addition of more people in India would not create job losses elsewhere. "We want round-the-clock product development", he said. Maira claimed that the company does not look at India's cost arbitrage advantage as a major factor rather it is the quality of its professionals which is a key driver for the expansion of Indian operation. Globally, the company has about 17,000 people.
