CA India finds a new Head in Amit Chatterjee
Bangalore: Amit Chatterjee, an IT veteran for 23 years has joined CA India as the new Vice President, Area Sales and Country Manager. He succeeds Ninad Karpe, who left CA earlier this year to head Aptech. In the new role, Chatterjee will head the company's regional leadership team and help formulate strategy to foster the growth of the company. On his appointment, Gavin Selkirk, SVP & General Manager, CA (APAC & Japan), said, "India holds tremendous potential for CA in terms of market expansion and partnership opportunities, and as a source of research and development. Hence, I am delighted that we have been able to recruit an industry veteran of Chatterjee's caliber to head the India initiatives. This is our third major appointment in India in just over two months and this places CA India in an excellent position to pursue our R&D, sales and business development objectives." Chatterjee will lead a team of over one hundred people across the various business centers in the country. He plans to find alternate efforts and strategies to over come the stiff competition the company faces from players like HP. Ironically, his earlier stint had been with HP, where he had worked really hard to bring HP ahead of CA in the race as a top management software provider. Talking about his new role, Chatterjee says, "I think the key challenge as an individual software developer will be to find an alternative strategy and to counter the big players like HP, IBM and Wipro. Also, we will have to find strategic partners to achieve good results." Prior to CA, Chatterjee was the Head of Alliances for HP Software across APAC and Japan, which he took over after serving as HP Software's India Country Leader for more than seven years. He has also spent two years in Microland, which he believes were very important and valuable. Earlier to that he had a 11-year long stint at HCL Infosystems. Chatterjee holds a BE in Electronics from NIT Nagpur and also has an MDP from XLRI, Jamshedpur. The appointment of Amit Chatterjee as the Vice President and Country Manager is followed by the appointments of Saurabh Srivastava as CA India Chairman, and William Bauman as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the India Technology Center in Hyderabad.
