Businesses fail to recognize IT: Forrester
Bangalore: The Forrester research revealed that in the company's annual report only 16 percent of the CEO's mention about IT. The technological companies' such as Microsoft, Dell, HP and IBM, do not even make a mention of internal IT in the company annual report, says Mike Simons of PC World. George Colony, Chief Executive of analyst group Forrester said, "There is a disconnect between traditional IT and the CEO." The traditional approach of IT fails to keep pace with The business units "drop projects". Forrester's concept of Business Technology believes that an organization should focus on 10 or 15 capabilities rather than focusing on hundred's of IT projects at a time.Colony says, "To do this CEOs needed to have a clear high level direction for the company,". Though this is an obvious thing to do ,it is very often not delivered. There is a requirement on part of the CEO's to bring forth technology and business together, in order to come out of the project and create abilities to catalyze change in relationship. Colony also says that, the CIO's are no longer order takers but are working with the business to set goals.According to him, "The CIO needs to bring best practice to the table, say what will and what will not work and which capabilities can really transform organizations."
